We want yarn to be rescued!
We specialize in rescuing yarn from the back of the cupboard or the bottom of your stash— upcycling yarn and notions (needles and patterns) that are donated to or sourced by us in the Tri-Cities.
We clean it up, give it a new look, and make it available to you at a reasonable price.

Every second Monday and every second Thursday, we host a gathering of crafters outside at the Baker Drive Elementary. Bring a chair!
7 - 9 pm!
Bring your WIP's, your tricky bits, and abandoned projects. We'll admire it, we'll help you out, and if we can't, we'll all watch a YouTube video together..

Over the summer we will be gradually moving our stock online so you can make purchases in from our store! This will be great for folks outside the lower mainland.

What is Yarn Rescue?
It’s a secondhand bookstore, but for yarn.
Every crafter has a stash sitting in the back of the cupboard: unfinished COVID projects, wool for babies (that are now in college), one and half socks, and monster sweaters that got away on us. People inherit their mother’s, grandmother’s, or friends' stash, yarn gets moved from cupboard to cupboard.
We want that yarn to be rescued!
We don’t want it to go to landfill or end up unloved in a plastic bag in a mega-thrift store.
We specialize in upcycling yarn and notions (needles and patterns) that are donated to us or we source in the community in the Tri-Cities and Metro Vancouver. We clean it up, give it a new look, and make it available at a reasonable price.
People can bring in their stash yarn and swap it for store credit. Yarn they don’t want, for yarn they do want!
We will sell kits for the beginner, using the yarn (and patterns) that have been donated. We also sell hand-knit and crocheted items that use the rescued yarn.
Our customers are the beginner who needs lots of help and inspiration, the eco-conscious crafter, and the thrifty deal-seeker. Upcycled yarn lovingly rescued from the back of the cupboard for the beginner, the eco-conscious, and the thrifty crafter. Just like you!

Jane Jung
Hi, I’m Jane, another Knitting Knerd. I’m also mom of two kids and love knitting and crochet🧶I learnt how to knit and crochet on my own since being a middle schooler😍
I like styling with vests, especially during the transitional seasons like now. Vests are great items for this time. Would you like to knit a vest with me?❤️
Zoe Sanborn
Hi! This me, Zoe, one of the Knitting Knerds. I am a mom of two, and my first knitting project was a Patons beret I made out of worsted wool, knit on 5 needles, with lots and lots of help from my mom. It was a way too difficult project for a first timer, but I was inspired by the pattern...and that kept me at it.
I love to help people starting out in knitting and crochet, I love to squeeze yarn in craft stores, and my "stash" leaks all over the house so you never know where you will find a random ball of wool.

Hello! I am Terri B, the last member of our Knitting Knerds collective. You can see from this photo that I love yarn!!! Who can relate??? I was taught how to knit by my granny Moser when I was 9 years old. I knit a few things and then dropped it. I didn’t return to knitting until I retired from playing basketball and nothing to do with my time. So I started knitting matching sweaters as wedding gifts and I haven’t stopped since! Today there is always a knitting project on the go and a wall of yarn I need to knit. I love that I have other “Knitting Knerds” just like me.
